Richmond Engineering Student Visit

This was the first of what we hope will be regular visits to give the students an orientation into the precision engineering industry and to see how we manufacture gears and splines to very tight tolerances. 

They learned about the full production cycle and manufacturing processes and the stringent requirements of the Aerospace Industry, including the challenge of complying with modern Health and Safety regulations. 

This was followed by a guided tour of the workshop and Inspection, where they saw a CMM in action. A final question and answers session completed the visit and Newmont were thanked by the Technology Lecturer, Ashok Joshi, who accompanied the students, for the comprehensive and informative content of the visit and the professional way in which it was organised.

Ashok commented: "This visit will be of tremendous help to the students in completing their assignments and understanding the organisation of an engineering facility and the various job opportunities in the industry. We look forward to further visits within the next few weeks."
