Helical gears offer a refinement to spur gears. The teeth are set at an angle to the gear axis – when two teeth on a helical gear system engage, the gear gradually spreads as the gear rotates, until full engagement
This gradual engagement means they operate more quietly and smoothly than spur gears. Due to the angle of the teeth a thrust force is created on the gear when they mesh.
We can manufacture complete or gear cut and grinned helical gears using our extensive system of gear cutting machinery.
